UCL GOSH PhD Program

UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health Surgeon Scientist PhD Program

UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health is soon to launch a new Surgeon Scientist PhD program aimed at surgical trainees ready to begin a career in acadaemia. The scheme aims to fund five PhD students starting over the next five years and will include clinical salary, tuition fees, consumables and travel.

A portfolio of projects, co-supervised by academics and surgeons, has been selected, and this includes several paediatric neurosurgery studies across both epilepsy surgery and neuro-oncology.

Selection will be by competitive interview with the successful candidate able to choose a project from the portfolio. The first student is expected to start in late 2017.

This scheme represents an excellent opportunity to study in an institution with world class academic and clinical credentials. Interested neurosurgical trainees should contact Martin Tisdall (martin.tisdall@gosh.nhs.uk) or Kristian Aquilina (kristian.aquilina@gosh.nhs.uk) for further details.
