Spinal Fellow in Neurosurgery, Preston

An excellent opportunity has arisen to recruit a Spinal Fellow in Neurosurgery, to start in post August 2017.
The Contract of employment will be for fixed term of 12 months in the first instance. Salary will be based upon the appropriate Specialty Registrar scale and will be based at the Royal Preston Hospital.
You will be working at registrar level to ensure effective delivery of clinical care within the department. This post is for an experienced senior trainee able to work at senior registrar level. It offers significant surgical and clinical exposure to enhance spinal surgical experience, and will provide opportunities for fantastic simple and complex spinal training and career advancement. Educational and research activity will be integrated within this post.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust forms one of the major acute Trusts in the North West with all of the usual specialties on site as well as being a Tertiary Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria in the departments of Neurosciences, Oncology, Plastic Surgery and Burns and Renal Medicine. Undergraduate medical student teaching has commenced in 2003 and the Trust has active and developing links with Universities of Manchester and Central Lancashire. Considerable opportunities exist for research and development, which are integral to teaching hospital status.
The department is currently staffed by 10 Consultants, 4 Specialist Registrars, 1 Research registrar, 5 Trust Registrars, 1 Senior Clinical Fellow, 4 Clinical Fellow – junior grade and 4 trainees (ST1-3).
This post does not participate in the on-call rota.
